A Luhansk Oblast Student Develops Calligraphy Teaching Software
Dmitry Shevchenko, a 4-th year IT student from the town of Rovenki, Luhansk Oblast, has developed a programme that can instruct on calligraphic handwriting. Instead of the deft hand of the mentor, the programme is writing out the letters of its own accord while a virtual fairy-tale hedgehog helps you memorize all the elements. Teachers approve of the student’s invention.
The Days of Manchuria hit Chita
On May 24, in the context of celebrating the 360-ieth anniversary of the Zabailkalsky Krai administrative center, traditional Days of Manchuria were unleashed. An exhibition of famous Chinese artists, featuring over fifty works of art: paintings, calligraphy, liquid silk decorations, opened the festivities. The brush virtuosos conveyed the charm of Chinese culture in portraits and landscapes.

The Schoolchildren of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Grind Calligraphy
“The Way of the Writing” is what the word “calligraphy” means in Oriental languages. This way was followed by the fifth-graders of Gymnasium #1 of the town of Yuzhno-Sahalinsk. “Around one hundred fifty pupils from the primary division, fifth and tenth grades of our gymnasium study the Japanese language. We do our best to set up calligraphy master classes for them on an annual basis, for calligraphy is an integral part of Japanese culture.”

Iranian calligraphers sweep awards in Istanbul competition
Iranian calligraphers have received numerous awards at the 9th International Calligraphy Competition held in the Turkish city of Istanbul. Iranian artists participated in the Nastaliq section knocked other competitors out of the section and picked up all the awards of the category.
