On a Friday night, April 19th, Russia saw the Biblionight cultural festival, timed to coincide with the International Reading Day. Citizens of Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Perm, Khabarovsk, and other cities enjoyed themselves participating in unusual library sessions.
The visitors were offered an extraordinary cultural programme ranging from calligraphy classes to various intellectual shows. The Central Hall of the Mayakovsky Library (Saint Petersburg) witnessed the Handmade Book calligraphy master class, giving everyone an opportunity to learn to create handwritten books with Japanese Hokku.
Calligraphy is the art of deliberate hieroglyphic corruption and transformation in order to reach natural harmony.
