It is a pleasure and honor to us to announce that the 17th of September has witnessed the Grand Opening of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy.
This is a true highlight and a must-visit for calligraphy experts and professionals. Many people who have a tender spot for this art have been looking forward to this event with their mouths watering.
Alexey Shaburov, General Manager of the project, Director of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy, President of Sokolniki Museum-Educational Complex, delivered a welcoming speech and greeted all exhibition guests, journalists, media representatives, and professional calligraphers. He noted the ever-increasing importance and a big social role of the present forum.
During the official opening ceremony the genuine gurus of the calligraphy art – Chen Wen-Fu from China, Pyotr Chobitko from Russia, and Avraham Borshevsky from Israel – made a joint presentation of this beautiful art. The awesome trio’s presentation was accompanied by the Terem-Quartet music band. It was a unique presentation made within a 100% cross-cultural environment!
Not only did our visitors see intriguing exhibits and interesting demonstration samples, but they also chanced to enjoy the performance of one of the most recognized choirs of Saint-Petersburg — the Chamber Choir of the Smolny Cathedral.
No doubt, the presentation of the manuscript of the handwritten copy of the Constitution of the Russian Federation was destined to become the core event of the Grand Opening. This manuscript was prepared jointly by the National Union of Calligraphers and the Rare Books Publishing House from St. Petersburg
The International Exhibition of Calligraphy is a momentous event for Russia’s and world’s cultural life. It blends the aesthetic and the spiritual and lets us see and touch the treasures of the world culture. No wonder, one of the exhibition slogans says, “Calligraphy is an Art of Perfection”.
We are happy to congratulate the project team, calligraphy writers coming from all over the world as well as calligraphy lovers on the Grand Opening of this tremendous event!
Calligraphy is a kind of music not for the ears, but for the eyes.
