Workshop on Vyaz
June 10th the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy will hold a workshop on one of the most decorative writings – Vyaz. Vyaz, or Slavic ligatured writing, has been popular in Russ once late 14th century. It was used to decorate books, household objects, and pieces of architecture.

Australian guests visit Museum
Visitors from the other side of the world – calligraphy artist Jan Cahill from Melbourne, Australia, with her spouse visited the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy on Friday, May 19. Jan is a member of the Calligraphy Society of Victoria, who does and teaches calligraphy and also is a regular attendant of various calligraphy related events in various corners of the world.

April 29th, renowned Japanese masters Sashida Takefusa, Hirose Shoko and Sauri Ishimaru held a workshop at the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy. The participants learned about the ancient kanji calligraphy style, practiced writing their names and created traditional Japanese personal seals.

Spring and summer activities at the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy
Saturday, April 29th, the final class of the Pointed pen course was held at the National School of Calligraphy. Students studied the Cyrillic Cursive Uncial script as well as the basic rules of creating a celebrative lettering composition.
Pointed pen to open calligraphy centre in Biysk Orthodox school
Teachers and students of the Orthodox school in Biysk are about to take part in a social projects contest run by Alexander Prokopyev's Foundation. If they win a grant, a calligraphy centre will be opened in the school.
Lettering crash course held in the Museum
April 22nd, a crash course on celebrating lettering was held in the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy. The crash course format allows students to get to know within short timeframes both the theory and practice of a calligraphy skill: in case of lettering, they learned about various kinds of scripts, numerous instruments applied in lettering, the rules of letter arrangement.
