Russia's Chief Rabbi has visited Sokolniki

Berel Lazar, Russia's Chief Rabbi has visited the Days of Korean Script exhibition at Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Centre being a special guest of Alexey Shaburov, Director of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy. Berel Lazar supports many initiatives of the museum. Thus, in 2009 the Chief Rabbi of Russia sent a congratulatory letter to the organizers and participants of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy. That letter reads as follows:

&“…All the peoples of our multinational country respect the written word and the culture of writing. Thus, your show also admits the contribution of Russia, its people and traditional confessions in development of calligraphy as an important means of spirituality development and promotion.

Good luck to the show organizers in all their beginnings! Let God hear praying of all those who visit your Museum…”

Berel Lazar has surveyed the Museum’s exposition, having carefully studied the masterpieces of calligraphy by Israeli Avraham Borshevsky and Izzy Pludwinski. The Chief Rabbi of Russia has been greatly impressed by the museum. Having made a joint photo with Alexey Shaburov near the World Famous Mezuzah from Jerusalem, the Chief Rabbi wished a lot of success to the project and promised that it was not his last visit to Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Centre.
