Workshop on Illumination

The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy will be holding a workshop on letter illumination by Bas Vlam.

A workshop dedicated to the practice of illuminating capitals.

Medieval religious manuscripts are famous for the beautiful colourful pictures and, in particular, capital letters decorated in a specific technique called illumination.

At the workshop Norwegian calligrapher Bas Vlam will explain how to draw medieval-style capitals and decorate them with colors and ornaments, as well as share hi professional experience as calligrapher and church decorator.

Bas Vlam (http://kalligraf.no/) is a calligrapher and teacher from Florveg, Norway. He learned the art of fine writing from such masters as Donald Jackson, Gaynor Goffe, Denis Brown. He is the founder and chairman of the Kalligrafisk klubb (Calligraphic club) (Norway), SSI and CLAS (United Kingdom).
