Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy held the 6th Open Dialogue for university professors

On December 15, 2019, the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy held “The Open Dialogue,” an event the Association for Sinology Development holds annually for teachers and professors of Chinese.

The 2018-2019 iteration was the sixth and focused on teaching Chinese in higher educational institutions. The previous five Dialogues addressed teaching Chinese at schools, translator / interpreter training, the history of relationship between Russia and China, and Chinese dialects.

Speakers – professors, authors of workbooks, textbooks, and monographies, scholar publications about China and the Chinese language, including a member of the board of the Association for Russian-Chinese Friendship, the Professor of Beijing Foreign Studies University Li Yingnan, spent a whole day sharing their knowledge and experience with colleagues and those who make or just plan to make their first steps in learning Chinese.

Information exchange was shaped as presentations or live discussions; besides, “The 6th Open Dialogue” offered a sale of necessary textbooks and workbooks, and an exhibition of literature from leading sinology publishing houses.

Alexey Shaburov, Director of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy, opened the event as a welcoming host. He gave an overview of the events held this year in the museum and in Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Centre to celebrate the 70th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between Russia and China, and also introduced the future projects that aim to introduce the culture of the Celestial Empire to Russia even closer.

Rounding up, Shaburov thanked Ms. Li Yingnan for her participation and the invaluable contribution she made to develop the Chinese Russian studies and diplomatic ties between Russia and China: “Many diplomats and statesmen whom I got to meet know about you as a brilliant professor. You have truly done a lot to facilitate the learning of Russian in China,” he said.
