The Saint John’s Bible at the VI International Exhibition of Calligraphy

The 6th International Exhibition of Calligraphy held this September featured many outstanding exhibits, but Donald Jackson's pages of the Saint John’s Bible certainly stand out.

We have previously covered the history of the project: how the idea to create a handwritten Bible in the 21st century arose, what materials, tools and technologies Donald Jackson used when implementing it, who helped him with this process.

Donald Jackson himself was to become an honorary guest of our exhibition, but unfortunately, the circumstances dictated otherwise. Then, Donald recorded a most touching video message for all the participants and guests of the exhibition; everyone who attended the opening ceremony for sure remembers his wonderful words about what calligraphy is in the modern world, how the calligraphers hold the delicate threads connecting us with the past, and weave them into the canvas of the present.

Donald Jackson is an outstanding researcher of European calligraphy, a recognized world-class master who has contributed immensely to its development, and we are honored to have him among the participants of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy project.

Today we want to share with you a video of Donald's video greeting, as well as invite you to get acquainted with the history and development of the St. John's Bible project in more detail: on our YouTube channel, you will find several translated videos, in which Donald Jackson himself and other project participants reveal interesting details and trivia
