The moon river and the head of a giant in Totalny Diktant in the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy

On Saturday, April 8, the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy joined the global Totalny Diktant (Ultimate Dictation) event among hundreds of venues all over the world where participants had a chance to put their literacy to the test by writing a dictated extract from a fictional text.

In the museum the third part of a trilogy essay by Leonid Yuzefovich dubbed Ulan-Ude. Selenga was dictated. Despite some official hints from the organizers complemented by some unofficial ones made by our fantastic «dictator», Svetlana Abramova, the text presented quite a few challenging and arguable parts. In return, all participants were introduced nature and customs of such a distant and little known region of Buryatia and its capital – Ulan-Ude. We'll know who handled all the commas, quotation marks and sphere names the best on April 18 when official test results are published online, and in the meantime we are excited to announce the results of our own contest mentioned before.

Among 25 participants at our venue there were 12 brave hearts who dared to write with a nib pen and ink. As promised, we chose the three best writings that succeeded more than the others not only in literacy but also in calligraphy and penmanship.

Below are the names who get free invites for a calligraphy workshop in our museum:

  • Nadezhda Efimova
  • Vera Lipatova
  • Tatyana Gornyakova

Well done and please contact us at info@calligraphy-museum.com for details.
