People's museums were added to the name of the Association

Together with the change of location, the Association of Private and People's Museums of Russia, which is currently based in a unique and beautiful place near the Oka Nature Reserve at 5A, Lesnaya st., Orekhovo village, Spassky district, Ryazan region, has also changed its name. Now the Association also includes people's museums which are usually founded at industrial and agricultural enterprises, schools, and other educational and social institutions on the initiative of workers, students, or public organizations.

Today it is quite clear that private and people's museums are an integral part of Russian culture. The collections of these numerous museums mostly contain authentic artifacts, the witnesses of the social and natural history, which are included in the cultural life of the society thanks to caring and proactive people. Museums, even small ones, play an unprecedented role – they are an integral part of the cultural continuity, they serve as a link between the past and the present, between eternal values and modern perception of the world.

The Association of Private and People's Museums of Russia aims to discover and identify such museums, include them in the catalog so that more engaged people could learn about these museums. Only through joint non-standard and creative actions can we draw the attention of the state and the public to the development of private and people's museums, which act as a model of the reflection on their role in preserving the historical heritage of our country and its unique cultural code.
