The owner of the Gomel florist shop Daria Rudykh has started up the calligraphy courses.
Calligraphy has been her hobby for a long time now and she even practices it at work. When she makes bouquets she also designes beautiful cards with greetings written in various calligraphic styles.
The idea to become calligraphy teacher struck her after one significant incident. One day a girl from Sakhalin that was visiting Gomel came to the Daria's florist shop and asked Daria to teach her the art of beautiful writing. It turned out that this girl came upon the Instagram account of the shop. She was amazed, Daria's crative approach inspired her and she decided to master the skill of calligraphy, too. Daria went beyond teaching only this girl and set up the courses.
The course consists of four lessons. The attendants study some theory and, of course, there's time for practice. Pens, drawing ink, paper and other accessories Daria orders in England.
In the beginning of the lesson it is time to check student's homework. One of the tasks may be to write the whole alphabet calligraphically. After checking the home task Daria introduces her students to the various calligrafical styles and explains how to choose paper and pens. While she shows different techniques, students watch and write together with her.
Daria believes that after the daily informational overload it's good for the brain and nervous system to occupy oneself with some creative activity that requires high degree of concentration, the one like calligraphy. It helps to relax and settle your mind. Moreover, Daria says that calligraphy is the form of art everyone can be taught – it's only a matter of time. Practice more and sooner or later you will develop your own unique style.

Calligraphy is a kind of music not for the ears, but for the eyes.
