Calligraphy and typography school opens in Yekaterinburg

Calligraphy breakfasts launch in Yekaterinburg in February – weekly calligraphy meetings and workshops led by the school trainers.

Starting from February 4 every week letters and writing styles will be introduced at the calligraphy breakfasts.

February and March will cover the study of the antique period in Latin writing. “The antiquity was the foundational period in European calligraphy when an edifice of Latin writing and key shapes of symbols were established”, emphasized the members of Typetypeschool.

The course will consist of 8 classes where the attendants will learn 4 scripts that impacted the entire subsequent history of calligraphy and practice the main calligraphy tools, a broad pen and a flat tip brush.

Lev Liberman, graduate of Saint-Petersburg Stieglitz Academy and teacher of design, history of art and painting in the Southern Ural State University, will teach the classes.

Typetype School is a script and typography school that opened in Moscow in 2013 and focused on script design, typography, structure and anatomy of letters. The school’s academic programme includes a number of educational courses on script culture, from calligraphy and illustration and through to the tools for creating script typefaces.
