Achyut Palav – a participant of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy – has recently opened a calligraphy school. We see it as another good move towards calligraphy promotion in India.
The education programmes are all based on rich cultural traditions of Indian calligraphy.
The students are offered courses of various intensity and length. Thus, if one would like to learn the elements of calligraphy she may choose between the Devanagari Scripts course (Hindi and Marathi), and the Roman Scripts course (English). These lessons last for two hours three times a week.
Those who are not free on working days may choose the same courses given on weekends.
On weekdays one may also attend the Indian Scripts courses (Urdu is one of them), or foreign languages lessons – Japanese for example. Moreover, throughout the year everyone may attend the special courses on manuscripts, the creative element of calligraphy… The school is reinforced with a library and a store where you can buy different calligraphy materials.
We heartily wish every success to Mr. Palav’s calligraphy school. We hope to see his lessons in Russia!
