Biography

Nikolai Makarov was born in Bologoe, Kalinin (Tver) Region, April 6, 1962. He has lived in Tyumen since 1967.

In 1979, he entered the Tyumen Art School, Artistic Department.

In 1985, upon graduation, he became a professor of the Artistic and Design Department (currently: Design Department) of the Tyumen Art School. He dealt with different subjects including: drawing, font, color studies, model making, composition, design, etc.

In 1997, he became a member of the Union of Designers of Russia and participated in exhibitions held by the Union. He won Victoria Russian National Design Award diploma at Design 97 Exhibition in Moscow for a series of graphic works made with calligraphy techniques.

In 1999, he graduated from the Tyumen Branch of the Ural State Academy of Art and Architecture, majoring in design.

In 2000, he received the Victoria Russian National Design Award diploma in the Environmental Design category.

In 2001 and 2007, he was a participant in the Golden Flea exhibitions in Tula

At present, he is the Assistant Professor in the Chair of Environment and Graphic Design, Tyumen Branch, the Ural State Academy of Art and Architecture, Design Institute, and simultaneously, a professor in the Design Department, Tyumen College of Arts.

Currently a teacher at the Institute of Architecture, Design, and Visual Arts (IADVI) of the Tyumen State Academy of Arts Culture and Social Technologies (TGAKIST).

A participant of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy project since 2008.
