“I was born in Dairen, Manchuria, in 1936. My father was a foreign correspondent for Reuters, covering the Japanese invasion of China”.

“Soon my parents, my brother Leigh and I were sent back home to Hawaii”.

“Calligraphy became my occupation and my passion”.
