The 5th regional contest of Russian calligraphy “Yat” (ѣ) in Primorsky Kray continues to accept submissions. The event traditionally celebrates the Day of Slavonic Writing and honours the memory of the saints Cyril and Methodius.
According to the organizers, the contest features several nominations: “Word – Image”, “Favourite Quatrain or Quote”, “Quote from the Bible”, “Initial (Capital) in a Handwritten Text”, and “Script Composition, Ex Libris”. A special nomination is also granted by the Far Eastern office of Russkiy Mir Foundation.
To join the contest, applicants have to submit their original artworks and completed questionnaires to the steering committee. The questionnaire template is available on the official website of Primorye Regional Centre of the Folklore Culture.
“The contest is free for all. Winners will be selected in two age groups: between 7 and 16, and over 17 years old. Submission process will run until May 15, after that the jury will review the applications and announce the results,” noted the representatives of the regional department of culture.
Awarding ceremony and opening of the exhibition to display top contest artworks is scheduled for the end of May in the exhibit hall of Primorye Regional Centre of Folklore Culture.
The winner will also be offered to paint an artwork on a wall in Vladivostok.
