Totalny Dictant in the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy

Totalny Diktant (“Ultimate dictation”) is an annual educational event held in the form of text dictation for the public. The main purpose of the event is to promote the Russian language, to demonstrate that literacy is important for everyone, and to unite everyone willing to speak and write in literate Russian.

This year, numerous institutions in 800 cities in Russia and all over the world will hosd the event on April 8, 2017, at 2 pm Moscow time. The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy will be one of the hosting institutions.

This time the text to be dictated will be an extract from an essay by Leonid Yuzefovitch. It describes the three cities of Perm, Ulan-Ude and Saint Petersburg.

Those who register to write the dictation at the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy will have an opportunity to check not only their knowledge of the Russian language rules but also their penmanship skills: they will be offered to write the text with a nib pen and ink. The most beautifully written text will be then selected, and its author will be awarded with an invitation to attend a calligraphy workshop at the Museum.

To participate in the Totalny Dictant at the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy, please be sure to register at the project website. Seats are limited!
