The official closing ceremony of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy has taken place today. The first results of the project have been summed up, some further plans have been outlined and a huge social significance of the international forum has been highlighted.
The framework of the closing ceremony included a number of events. The winners of the Argumenty and Fakty newspaper contest were awarded during the ceremony.
The project team was glad to sum up the results of the contest of young calligraphers and to award the winners. The art of calligraphy develops one’s personality at any age, but the earlier we start to instill the aesthetic sense into the younger generation, the more positive the results will be. Calligraphic studies inevitable influence the character and state of one’s mind. This is especially efficient in childhood when a personality is being formed, when we acquire most of our habits and mould our worldview.
It remains for us to add, that the cooperation of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy and children’s educational institutions is planned to be existing on a regular basis. In particular, at present we are negotiating with the St. Petersburg Youth Art Centre and the administration of Nikolai Rerikh Art College.
It’s a pity, the International Exhibition of Calligraphy is coming to an end. However, it is only the first heat of the project. The art of calligraphy will keep on bringing positive emotions to the public. The interest of the masters of calligraphy for the project let the project team claim that the project’s main aim, restoring the long-forgotten Russian art of calligraphy, making it available, affordable, and creating a fertile environment for it, is accomplished; and the mission of the project, forming of a healthy and beautiful society, is heading on at full steam.
The International Exhibition of Calligraphy promises to be a significant event in the cultural life of Russia, bringing together the aesthetic and the spiritual and allowing us to enjoy the treasures of the world culture. One of the exhibition’s mottos says, “Calligraphy: The Art of Excellence”.
When there are no words left, the meaning is still preserved.
