The Great Chinese Calligraphy and Painting exhibition starts in 2 days

The Great Chinese Calligraphy and Painting, a large-scale exhibition project organized by the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy, has gained support and recognition from key federal ministries and agencies. The project has been endorsed by the State Duma Committee on Education and Science represented by Deputy Chair Lyubov Dukhanina, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation represented by Deputy Minister of Culture Alla Manilova,  Chairman of the Russian-Chinese Committee of Friendship, Peace and Development in Russia and the Russian Federation Presidential Commissioner for the Rights of Entrepreneurs Boris Titov, Member of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Oleg Morozov, Chair of State Duma Committee on Culture Yampolskaya Elena, General Director of the State Hermitage Director of the St. Petersburgers Worldwide Club Mikhail Piotrovsky and Senator, Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Agriculture and Food Policy and Environmental Management Sergey Mitin. On the Chinese side, the project has received support from the Embassy of China represented by Chinese Ambassador to Russia Li Hui. The exhibition will serve to strengthen further Sino-Russian diplomatic relations.

China and Russia are two major neighboring countries and today’s most important comprehensive strategic partners, pursuing a wide range of common interests. Cooperation at the regional level is important for their relations: stronger ties at sub-national levels result in a more solid base for mutually beneficial interstate cooperation.

The leaders of Russia and China have agreed to designate 2018 and 2019 as the years of China-Russia local cooperation and exchange, which will undoubtedly expand the scope and depth of cultural exchange between the countries. The 2019 exhibition will be included in a series of events to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia.

The organizing committee has already begun the careful work of selecting the unique objects, created by the best Chinese calligraphers and artists, to be included in the exposition. Both residents and guests of the Capital are in for a remarkable fall exhibition bound to become Moscow’s major cultural event of 2019.
