The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy is a unique cultural institution which aims to preserve and promote the traditions of the art of fine writing. The Museum has a rich collection of over 3,000 calligraphy masterpieces from the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century created by 443 artists from 65 countries.
The permanent Museum’s collection comprises over 150 objects assembled into thematic groups, each of which represents the writing culture of different civilizations, nations, and religions.
In a very short time, the Museum has become Russia’s main calligraphy hub, an important expo venue, and the country’s number one gathering spot for calligraphers from across the globe.
The projects of the Museum are supported by the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO and leaders of the key religious denominations in Russia. Over its lifetime, the project has featured some of the world’s most renowned artists, including an outstanding master and a calligrapher of Arab sheikhs and kings Nja Mahdaoui, personal calligrapher of Pope Benedict XVI Barbara Calzolari, President of Turin calligraphers' guild Dal Segno alla Scrittura Massimo Polello, to name but a few.
In celebration of the anniversary, the exposition will feature a rare collection of nibs, many of which are one of a kind, offered to us by the owner of this unique collection and a member of the Universal Metal Nib Collector’s Club Vadim Wolfson.
Also, visiting the Museum for the first time will be the owner of the Montegrappa brand of luxury writing instruments Giuseppe Aquila and an American businessman David Weitzman, bringing the light of Hollywood stars with him.
The guests will learn about an impressive writing kit. It was specially made for Israel’s 70th anniversary of independence in partnership with one of our exhibitors Avraham Borshevsky, whose work was documented by the Guinness World Records.
The reception will take place on September 7th at 15:00.
