On September 20 and 21 the unique exhibition named “The Great Chinese Calligraphy and Painting” will see performances of guqin and xiao flute musicians – Qiu Tong and Anastasia Novoselova.
Qiu Tong plays guqin cither and holds membership in the Chinese association for studying kunqu guqin, the Chinese association for studying traditional ensemble music, the Chinese association for guqin cither, and the Association of Shandong province musicians. The 12th generation musician of Guangling guqin school, she learned to play guqin under the guidance of the professor of Tianjin conservatory, the Vice President of the Chinese association for guqin cither, Li Fengyun, and graduated from Tianjin conservatory, finishing her postgraduate education specializing in guqin in 2018.
Anastasia Novoselova, musician, musical scholar and teacher, guqin cither, xiao and di flutes player, Ph. D. in the History of Arts. Since 2006, Novoselova has been engaged in practical studies of traditional Chinese music, supervised by professors of Tianjin conservatory Li Fengyun (guqin) and Wang Jianxin (xiao, di), spending 2008-2009 as a graduate in Tianjin conservatory. In 2011 she won a grant for a research project on “Guqin in the musical culture of modern China.” On July 17, 2013, she and the other Li Fengyun's students took part in the “Guqin Gushi” show (“The Ancient Qin, the Ancient Poetry”) held in Beijing Forbidden City concert hall.
