On August 28th, Kazan’s Ğabdulla Tuqay Literary Museum will witness Najip Nakkash’s calligraphy exhibition entitled The Beauty of Writing Refines the Eye timed to coincide with the Kazan City Day.
Najip Nakkash is, in a sense, Tatarstan’s national contemporary artist. He revives Arabic calligraphy, an age-old tartar fine art largely neglected and forgotten over the last eighty years.
The artist has mastered various styles of Arabic calligraphy. His works are vivid, original, well-composed, ethnically flavoured. Mr. Nakkash has participated in many republican, interregional, and international exhibitions. He also organized fifteen solo show. This event will feature his glass calligraphy: ayahs from the Holy Koran and the Prophet’s dicta. The visitors will also be able to enjoy the author’s works on paper: stanzas by the tartar poets from Qol Ghali to Ğabdulla Tuqay.
