On May 15 President of Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Centre Alexey Shaburov met with students of the Russian State University of Tourism and Service at the invitation of its Dean Alexander Fedulin and Vice Dean for Research Natalya Platonova. Shaburov spoke about the activities of the Sokolniki exhibition centre and his large-scale art projects: the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy, the International Exhibition of Calligraphy, The Great Chinese Calligraphy and Painting exhibition, and the forthcoming Great Russian and Chinese Calligraphy, which will take place in the Federal State Duma of the Russian Federation. He also gave an overview of the rapidly growing project for the Private Museums of Russia and invited the concerned students to cooperate within Chinese projects in the future, or do internship in his company.
Following the talk, Alexey Shaburov spoke to Alexander Fedulin about the specifics of modern education, and his pursuits in sport and art. The University team gave a tour of the most exciting laboratories, including the integrative centre of panoramic visualization, the library of tour guides and tourist maps, which can be recognized as a small private museum in its own right, the innovative and educational centre of space services, and the digital laboratory of 3D visualization.
To round up the visit, Anastasia Samoylova, the student and member of the PR Club, took an interview from the President of Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Centre, touching upon the attraction of calligraphy, methods to unleash the potential of private museums of Russian more efficiently, and to increase the tourist flow.
The University also suggested a number of ideas to cooperate with the Association of Private Museums through taking part in forming a unified database and interactive map of private museums, participating in the business agenda of the private museum exhibition, and publication of the Private Museums magazine, preparing training and educational materials “Tourism Market: A Private Museum Owner’s Checklist,” and conducting assessment of tourist attraction and demand research.
