Only one day is left before the long-awaited project, the International Exhibition of Calligraphy, is launched. The project is anticipated excitedly by professional calligraphers and artists as well as by everyone interested in the art of calligraphy, the culture and traditions of writing.
The Grand Opening will take place tomorrow, on September 16th.
At present time the last-minute preparations are underway at the Repin State Academic Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture of St. Petersburg, the exhibition venue. The majestic halls of the old building located at the Universitetskaya Embankment (the University Embankment) harbour most valuable exhibits, which demonstrate the evolution of the most ancient art of handwriting, the art of calligraphy. The exposition includes historic specimens of handwritten texts of various ages, sample calligraphic pieces from across the world, writing and calligraphic utensils, which the Masters use to create their chef-d’oeuvres.
The framework of the exhibition will include master classes and informative lectures with practical seminars on calligraphy.
At this hour, the project team is solving the remaining organizational and technical problems. The International Exhibition of Calligraphy promises to be a significant cultural event for the whole country.
The interest of the public and mass media for the project presentation and opening of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy which were held before prove the exhibition to be topical and timely.
