Russian cursive script at the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy

On May 21st, a workshop on Russian cursive script was held in the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy in advance of the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture.

Rainy weather couldn’t stop those who appreciate the unique art of calligraphy. Our museum was filled with kind smiles and anticipation.

The Saturday afternoon began with an introduction to the world of Ancient Rus. Artyom Levedev, the teacher of the school and a member of the National Union of Calligraphers, related to the public the history of appearance of the Slavic alphabet and writing, and about the oldest Slavic kinds of writing: uncial, semi-uncial and cursive. Under his guidance, the attendees tried their hand at pointed pen writing.

Further on, the audience got introduced to the unique collection of calligraphy works from contemporary calligraphy masters from all over the world.

The magic of calligraphy stayed with the attendees for quite some time.
