Results of Calligraphy Competition among School and University Students Summarized in Primorye

The Confucius Institute at the Far East Federal University (FEFU) has summarized the results of a traditional calligraphy competition held among university and school students of the Primorsky Kray. It is traditionally arranged with the support of the headquarters of the Confucius Institutes/Hanban and the Vladivostok branch of the Consulate General of China in Khabarovsk, says The Pacific Russia.

This year the competition was especially popular. 2276 school and university students from Vladivostok, Ussuriysk and Nakhodka took part in the first qualifying stage of the competition, in pen calligraphy, and more than 200 representatives of 16 educational institutions competed in their art in the final stage; brush calligraphy.

The pen calligraphy stage began in the middle of October and continued for several months. The participants could perform their work in their own educational institutions, or at the Confucius Institute. Out of the total number of participants 24 winners and 16 laureates were selected.

The second stage was the brush calligraphy competition. During the preparation for the competition the teachers from the Confucius Institute at the FEFU conducted master-classes in the traditional Chinese art at schools, gymnasiums, and institutions of higher education in the Primorye. About 500 people had an opportunity to learn calligraphy from the real masters.
