Mr. Qi Gong (1912-2005) is a prestigious Chinese scholar, painter, and calligrapher. He spent his entire professional career of more than 70 years teaching at the Beijing Normal University, and is acknowledged as a scholar with profound learning. The coming July 26 is the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mr. Qi Gong. A few organizations will jointly sponsor an exhibition of “Qi Gong’s Calligraphy and Painting” to commemorate the role model of virtue and expertise.

Mr. Qi Gong had set his mind on pursuing Chinese culture since childhood. He successively followed Jia Ximin, Wu Jingting and Pu Xinyu guidance, in particular, he had been taught by Chen Yuan for 39 years. His attainments in calligraphy, painting, research upon Chinese literature and history exert extensive influence at home and abroad.

The exhibits are Qi Gong’s most significant works, selected from the collections of some universities, publishing houses, state administrative organs, and famous collectors.
