Pushkin Institute Research, Education and Coordination Centre of South Ural State University has announced a contest on Russian calligraphy among pupils and students of the People’s Republic of China.
The contest on Russian calligraphy is being organised as part of the project on Establishment and Development of a Network of Pushkin Institute Centres in the PRC on the Basis of Organisations Performing Education in the Russian Language being fulfilled by the SUSU’s Pushkin Institute partner network. Pupils and students who have been learning Russian for more than a year now are welcome to participate.
“When we’re talking about written language, we always turn to the history language and the process of its emerging. The history of written language comprises preservation of the experience of a nation, of its traditions and values. The calligraphy contest aims at helping international students, who are learning Russian, understand that such common thing as alphabet hides a long history of the language evolving,” notes the event supervisor, Associate Professor at the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language of the SUSU Institute of Linguistics and International Communications Olesya Sharafutdinova.
The events will be held for the Chinese pupils and students by the staff of the Pushkin Institute partner network. The participants will be offered to complete tasks on special template worksheets. The tasks will comprise tests on the Russian calligraphy skills and on the knowledge of the ABCs. The assignments were developed by Associate Professor at the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language Yulia Kazakova with consideration to the specifics of teaching international students.
At present the contest is being held at Tianjin Foreign Studies University by the academic services specialist of the SUSU Pushkin Institute Centre and the project coordinator on the PRC territory Tatiana Beloglazova.
It should be noted that the contest has been held among the international attendees of the courses of the SUSU Faculty of Pre-University Education for more than 4 years now. It helps students understand the fundamental difference between the printed and written texts, what in its turn leads to a more efficient learning.
