Yves Leterme, a world renowned Belgian calligrapher became the 102 participant of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy. We are happy to welcome a new artist to our professional calligraphic community.
A student of an outstanding Belgian calligrapher and art expert Brody Neuenschwander, Yves Leterme is in some way close to his first teacher, but, however has developed his own artistic vision, inimitable style and original writing method. The bright talent was polished during the studies under other recognized calligraphers like Thomas Ingmire, for instance.
Yves Leterme practices and teaches calligraphy and … classical languages. According to those who were lucky to take his lessons, he is a brilliant teacher and an agreeableperson. A plethora of calligraphy connoisseurs will now look forward to seeing his master class at one of the International Exhibitions of Calligraphy in Veliky Novgorod or, may be, Paris.
Pondering over the definition of calligraphy Yves Leterme writes, “Over the centuries philosophers and artists have tried to define beauty. ...Personally I like the attempt of the painter Hogarth who once stated, 'Beauty is variety without confusion, simplicity without nakedness, richness without tawdriness, distinctness without hardness and quantity without excess.' His calligraphy masterpieces feature such kind of beauty; they strike with well-balanced composition, colour palette, and skillful lettering.
However, the chefs d’oeuvre by the master speak louder than words.
Calligraphy is the flower of a man′ s soul.
