The Museum of History of the Kazan Kremlin Annunciation Cathedral has launched an Old Russian calligraphy workshop. Artist and script expert Vladislav Baranov helps pick up fine writing skills and produce original letter paintings, and also master one of the most complicated activities, according to some scientists.
The participants are called to write their own name using one of the richest ornamental writing types – the Old Russian ligatured script, which used to decorate books, household items or architecture. Having connected the letters of their own name, the workshop participants obtain their own personal and unique sign. This challenging task is preceded by a short insight into the history of calligraphy to get to know both works of modern artists and necessary tools.
The Old Russian Calligraphy. Christmas Angel workshop will be held in the museum on December 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25 and 28.
An exclusive New Year or Christmas calligraphy card with festive scenery will become a bright and memorable gift for your friends or family, and a calligraphically depicted Christmas angel will certainly contribute to the special feel of the most family holiday of the year.
