New edition of the book “Visible Word” by Dmitry Petrovsky

The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy congratulates member of the National Union of Calligraphers, member of Saint Petersburg Union of Artists, and of the Union of Designers of Russia, Professor of Font and Calligraphy Course at St. Petersburg State University, College of Arts under the Faculty of Philology Dmitry Ilyich Petrovsky on the occasion of putting to press his third monograph on the art of fonts “Visible Word”. The book was premiered in 2015 at the Fifth International Calligraphy Exhibition in Moscow. This work is an unusual combination of a monograph, a learning guide and a cultural essay. It describes the emergence process of writing in a wider context of the development of ancient peoples’ cultures. The work also contains short historical accounts regarding the periods of establishment of various forms of writing.
