New arrivals at the Signature Samples and Ancient Manuscripts sections

The collection of materials for the International Exhibition of Calligraphy is continually updated with new materials.

Now the section Signature Samples section contains the autographs of Russian emperors, members of the royal family and court nobility. Here you can see the autographs of those who had a huge impact on Russian history. The section contains unique specimen: signatures of Peter the Great and his associate Aleksandr Menshikov, autographs of Empresses Yekaterina I, Anna of Russia (Anna Ioannovna) and Yekaterina II(Catherine the Great), autograph of the Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich of Russia, killed by a terrorist attack, and many others… Here are the autographs of the last representatives of the Romanovs dynasty, Nikolai II and Heir Apparent Aleksei Nikolayevich, who were both executed by a firing squad after the Bolsheviks seized power.

The documents granted by the State Historical Museum International Exhibition of Calligraphy are also of interest and great value, namely, a collection of rare manuscripts of the 18th-20th centuries, which are included into the Ancient Manuscripts section. Royal rescripts, charters, letters, and memoirs in Russian and in French allow us to savour the history of Imperial Russia, which still hides many secrets.
