Needle Calligraphy Contest

On February, 28, Sokolniki ECC is going to host Fancywork Formula (Formula Rukodelia) exhibition and sale, featuring the Needle Calligraphy contest. Monogram fancywork, — an ancient, almost forgotten art, — has almost no application in present-day world. But there was a time when not single woman could refrain from embroidering monograms on table cloths, bed linen, handbags, sachets, handkerchiefs, book covers, caskets, etc.

Formula Rukodelia (Fancywork Formula), LTD and Thread & Needle boutique has urged all embroideresses to participate in the contest, submitting old alphabets and monograms, embroidered with colour threads, with silk on Mill Hill perforated A4 paper, or with glass beads, until February, 15. The contest’s results will be announced during the fixed event period — February 28 — March 3, 2013.
