On September 12, the team from the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy paid another visit to Beijing’s gallery Beijing Red Crag Culture & Media Co., run by artist Yan Hungyang.
Gao Haimin, who is in charge of the gallery, talked about the project entitled “Screen Stars — Calligraphers”. Following a short video shown to introduce the project, Wu Chuanhuai, together with his fellow calligraphers, held a workshop.
The delegation and the Chinese party continued their meeting over lunch, which went in a friendly atmosphere, and discussed the museum’s forthcoming project “The Great Chinese Calligraphy and Painting”.
The next day, the museum team attended a quarterly art auction held by Rong Bao Zhai, an art shop located in Beijing, China. Before the bidding begins, there is an opportunity to admire works by both calligraphers and artists displayed at the gallery. At the auction, you can find items bidding at hundreds and thousands, even millions, of yuan! It is interesting to note that all auction houses in China are state-run.
Calligraphy is frozen poetry.
