Israeli delegation visited Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Centre and Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy

On May 26 Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Centre held the festival “Shalom Israel!” organized by the Jewish Agency for Israel in partnership with Ofeq Israeli company, the Masa programme, the Russian Jewish Congress, and other Jewish organizations. The event showcased new facts and details about today's Israel, which celebrates its 71st birthday this year: special information booths featured representatives of municipalities, state authorities and educational institutions to answer questions.

Harry Koren, the Ambassador of Israel to the Russian Federation, attended the opening ceremony of the Festival. As a part of their agenda, the Israeli delegation visited the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy, which among other exhibits displays the Tsar Mezuzah – a unique artwork made by an expert in sacred calligraphy Avraham Borshevsky, which is recognized as a masterpiece of national calligraphy by leading spiritual and academic authorities of Israel.

The Tsar Mezuzah is the only contemporary calligraphy listed in the Guinness Book of Records. The guests appreciated the unique collection of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy, which includes calligraphy masterpieces from all across the globe, and wished it to develop further and complete the exhibit with new gems of calligraphy art.
