On July 11, a meeting took place between the Director of MGIMO Alumni Association (Moscow State Institute of International Relations) Igor Arseniev and Alexey Shaburov, President of EcoCenter “Sokolniki” Museum-Educational Complex and founder of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy.

During the meeting, which was held in MGIMO’s History Museum, the parties discussed the current state of the common projects as well as the prospects of further cooperation. One of the major negotiation points was a cultural dialogue between Russia and China. Mr Arseniev and Mr Shaburov also touched upon the political aspect of the matter since 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia (former USSR).

2019 will be a symbolic year for MGIMO as well because it will be celebrating its 75th anniversary. Many of its students have contributed to the development and strengthening of China–Russia diplomatic relations.

At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged business proposals for the organization of the events timed to coincide with the celebrations, and sealed the agreements with a handshake.
