Pyotr Chobitko, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Union of Calligraphers, creator of the first in Russia handwritten copy of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, gave his master-class entitled “How Instruments Influence Calligrapher’s Expressive Means”.
According to Mr. Chobitko, he changed many a pen during this five-month calligraphic marathon. Can an amateur distinguish where the master used a goose-quill pen and where he used a metal pen? Is there any difference at all? What should you choose a brush or a pen? How can this choice influence the moulding of the author’s design? What consequences might the wrong choice of instrument lead to?
Professor Chobitko, who has been working with scripts for more than thirty-five years, answered all these questions. He willingly shared his rich experience with all those who attended his Sunday lecture.
Calligraphy is the art of both ideal writing and an ideal soul.
