Graduation of the children’s calligraphy course

Last Saturday, March 25, 2017 was the graduation day for the younger students of the National School of Calligraphy at the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy. The museum hall emanated the atmosphere of anticipation and celebration. As the children gathered for class, they animatedly greeted each other and shared their impressions of preparing the final work.

The school teacher Artyom Lebedev decided to dedicate the last class of the Pointed Pen course to the broad pen: the instrument the kids will practice over the next course. While the students had perfected their skills with the pointed pen over the academic year it was challenging for them to produce quality lines with the unfamiliar instrument; they had to apply all their diligence and concentration. However challenging, this practice helped the students learn and experience more about various calligraphy instruments and scripts.
After this practice, Artyom examined the final works prepared by the kids, commenting every work in detail. The parents of the kids were also invited and couldn’t help feeling proud of their children’s accomplishments. The teacher stressed that all the works were of demonstrative of artistic approach, application of various scripts and unusual materials, and all deserved high marks.

Traditionally, the class terminated with Artyom presenting every student with graduation certificates and memorable gifts from the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy. He also wished the students to continue with studying calligraphy.
