Expedition visits Kovrov Museum of Motorcycles

As the expedition progresses on its route, the next stop is the Museum of Motorcycles in Kovrov, Vladimir region.

Its owner, the native of Kovrov Nikolay Tubaev, has been collecting and restoring the motorcycles made by Degtyarev plant between 1946 and 2004 on his own for over 20 years now.

His collection features over 65 motorcycles and all kinds of motor sports: motorcycle football, motocross and racing, with a selection of enduro and road models on display too. Tubaev’s collection can boast the entire model range ever produced by Degtyarev plant. It all started with his employment at the plant and motorcycle travels as a hobby. After Tubaev left, he spent a long time working as a jewellery repairman. As currently he is short of customers, he refitted and focused on his favourite pursuit, the restoration of motorcycles. His skill is clearly seen to an unaided eye as you observe the restored surfaces of the iron horses. Every exhibit features its history, and carries a part of the collector’s own soul.
