The Fine World of Korean Calligraphy exhibition is to open this week in the Central exhibition hall of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan. It will showcase some 180 works by famous Korean calligraphers.
The exhibition organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Uzbekistan gives a chance to understand one of the aspects of traditional Korean art. Visitors will be able to feel the spirit of Korean calligraphy rooting in the early Korean handwriting, created in Phanboche and Kungche styles, as well as the refined modern Soche style.
Calligraphy written in symbols is one of the most original artistic genres of the Orient. It is worth mentioning that today Korean calligraphy as an art form keeps growing and developing. Originally emerging from Chinese writings, the history of Korean calligraphy reflects the unique artistic world.
The traditional Korean Hangul alphabet, having scientific and systematic nature, is considered to be the perfect art form and listed in the UNESCO World Heritage.
Koreans take pride in their traditional calligraphy which is completely different from calligraphic arts in other countries and reflects the unique mentality of Korean people.
The exhibition will be open from 16th to 21st of October.
