Director of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy congratulated the China Cultural Center on its 6th anniversary

The special event dedicated to the anniversary of the China Cultural Center was attended by the following guests of honor: Ms. Shi Xiaoling, the spouse of the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Russian Federation; Dmitry Mezentsev, Chairman of the Council of the Federation Committee for Economic Policy; Ms. Gong Jiajia, Advisor for Culture at the Embassy of China in Russia, Director of the China Cultural Center in Moscow; Mr. Xia Guangyuan, Deputy Director of the Cultural Center; Natalia Pilus, Member of the State Duma Committee on Culture; Galina Kulikova, First Deputy of the Russian-Chinese Friendship Society, Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation; Alexey Shaburov, Director of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy, President of the Sokolniki Museum-Educational Complex; employees of the Embassy, and numerous partners of the China Cultural Center.

Six is considered a lucky number in China, associated with happiness and business. Six years is not so much, but in her speech Ms. Gong Jiajia mentioned that during this time a lot of experience has been accumulated, many interesting projects have been implemented, the center has been actively attracting Russian visitors.

In turn, all the speakers stressed that Russia and China are good historical neighbors, with 4.5 thousand kilometers of common border uniting them. It is crucial that all our joint efforts boil down to the fact that both Russian and Chinese citizens are interested in each other’s culture. The China Cultural Center in Moscow is a new platform for humanitarian exchange making a similar contribution to bilateral cultural cooperation. Chinese language, art, life, philosophy, and traditions are studied there.

The event ended with the opening of the Reflection of the Silk Road exhibition, demonstrating the best examples of Chinese high fashion. The exhibition featured a fashion show with Chinese and Russian models demonstrating the best examples of Chinese high fashion, the performance designed to resemble moving scrolls. The pieces of the Chinese fashion industry presented at the exhibition combine the traditions of the Ming and Qing eras and modernity, demonstrating how the costume, being an element of intangible culture, is passed from generation to generation.

It is not only Russia´s Chinese partners´ interest in implementing commercial projects that helps maintain the development of bilateral cultural relations stably high. Close cooperation and friendly relations of the political leaders of both countries favor the active development of cultural dialogue, the implementation of joint projects in the field of education, mutual tourism and youth policy.

In the coming year, China and Russia celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations. The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy will organize the Great Chinese Calligraphy and Painting project, specially dedicated to this significant date. On December 14, 2018, Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Center will host the official presentation of the project for officials, partners and media representatives. The Chinese Cultural Center and the Embassy of China are official partners of the 2019 event and exhibition. Visitors of the presentation will be offered a tour of Calligraphic China: all the provinces from north to south, all styles, famous Chinese calligraphers and artists. Sino-Russian relations are at the peak of their development. In this regard, the idea of the Great Chinese Calligraphy and Painting exhibition is dictated by the desire to strengthen Russian-Chinese relations in all areas of bilateral cooperation. We are confident that the upcoming exhibition will be an important hallmark in the Chinese-Russian cultural relations and spiritual communication between the two peoples.
