Director of Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy (Russia) visits Museum of Mongolian Calligraphy in Ordos City January 24, 2019

Chairman of the International Association of Mongolian Calligraphy, Mr. Dalangurav, and founder of the Museum of Mongolian Writing, Bao Jinshan, meet Alexey Shaburov and his team

On January 20, 2019, the city of Ordos, which is located in Inner Mongolia, China, welcomed special guests. A delegation from the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy led the museum's director, Alexey Shaburov, came to visit the Museum of Mongolian Calligraphy and the Museum of the Secret History of the Mongols. The guests were accompanied by President of the Association of Mongolian Calligraphy Mr Ayushi Dalangurban and welcomed by the Museum's founder, Mr Bao Jinshan, as well as calligraphers, professors, and students. The meeting was also attended by local heads of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and the National People’s Congress.

The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy is a unique museum dedicated to the art of calligraphy and established 10 years ago. The museum exhibit includes unique 20th- and 21st-century handwriting samples produced in different languages. In 2017, the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy and the International Association of Mongolian Calligraphy signed a long-term cooperation agreement; nine masters submitted their calligraphic works created in Mongolian for the 6th International Exhibition of Calligraphy, the exhibits later forming part of the permanent display of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy. This all helped lay the foundation for a fruitful cooperation between the parties.

In September 2018, President of the Association of Mongolian Calligraphy Mr Dalangurban was invited as a guest of honor to celebrate the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy, where he enjoyed meeting calligraphers and language experts from all over the world. Mr Dalangurban told Mr Shaburov about the Museum of Mongolian Calligraphy, in which Mr Shaburov showed great interest. The International Association of Mongolian Calligraphy arranged for the delegation to come to Ordos where Mr Shaburov visited the Museum of Mongolian Calligraphy and the Museum of the Secret History of the Mongols.

Having completed a tour of the premises, the representatives of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy, the International Association of Mongolian Calligraphy, and the Museum of Mongolian Calligraphy gathered for a meeting during which they signed a protocol on International Cooperation in the Field of Calligraphy. The parties committed themselves to boosting cooperation in the spheres of language, calligraphy, and exhibition organization. The Russian party invited their international partners to participate in the large-scale exhibition project "The Great Chinese Calligraphy and Painting". The project is designed to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and China. The exhibition which is scheduled to be held in Moscow in September 2019 has already received support from Russian and Chinese federal authorities.
