Convicts at the Biysk Correctional Centre learn the basics of calligraphy

Under the guidance of Olga Khesina, director of the Mirolad Folk Culture Center in Biysk, the convicts studied calligraphy design elements and techniques. They liked the idea of combining various patterns and elements to create original drawings of birds, animals, fish, and insects.

The convicts who attended calligraphy classes noted that in Mirolad they not only discovered the beauty of this art form but also were given the opportunity to enjoy the warm and special atmosphere of the cultural center.

"The atmosphere of coziness, tea parties, smiles of people happy in their own way, a ginger cat that visited us every time, give a feeling of something kind, homelike and intimate," they wrote in the magazine "StranICa", edited and published at the UFIC Correctional Centre Area Penal Colony 2.
