Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy opens school of Arabic writing

Sergey Sorochyev, founder of an Arabic calligraphy studio, and developer of a special calligraphy training methodology, met with Alexey Shaburov, Director of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy.

Former teacher of English, German and History, Sergey completed a training course under the guidance of a Syrian reed pen artist, and found a desire to open his own school of Arabic calligraphy to share this fascinating beauty of Arabic writing with the world.

Geometrical and ornamental nature of Arabic script as an art attracts creative people from all over the globe, and inspires many designers and artists. Besides the aesthetical component of the process, calligraphy practice improves memory and logical thinking, observation skills and imagination, reduces the risks of Alzheimer and Parkinson’s diseases, supports cardiac function and regulates increased blood pressure.

And finally Sergey has found an opportunity to open his extraordinary school! The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy is happy to provide a venue for him to let anybody interested learn calligraphy where no knowledge of Arabic is required: the alphabet, joined-up writing of the letters, and basic grammar elements can be mastered as you go.
