Participants of Irina Goncharova's “National Carnival” project visited the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy on November 23, 2019, during “One Belt – One Road” exhibition of Chinese tea.
They took a special tour and a calligraphy workshop, where one of the National School of Calligraphy trainers, Artem Lebedev, introduced the rules of writing with dip pens to the guests in the likeness of various movie characters.
Svetlana Dianova, the author of “Life is Beautiful” YouTube channel, made a feature about the “National Carnival” project and its cooperation with Sokolniki, and also took an interview with Alexey Shaburov, Director of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy and President of Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Centre.
“Taking part in the “National Carnival” is a true excitement,” Shaburov said about the project. “It is important to be in the project rather than support it in some way. No money will help without your personal commitment. You either get inside, care about the project and end up satisfied with its achievements, or distance yourself. “National Carnival” gives you an opportunity to be free, to be a child. I feel like ordering a troublemaker costume to put on wide trousers and a peaky cap, and join it as a national model. It’s just a shame to wear a regular costume alongside these fascinating ladies.”
