Confucius Institute of the Russian State University for Humanities held a special event in the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy on September 28, 2019, to celebrate several landmark dates: the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the People's Republic of China, the 70th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between Russia, the USSR's successor, and China, Confucius's birthday, and the Global Day of Chinese Language and Culture.
The event was open for all and included the following:
- “The Chinese tradition of nurturing life” talk: from immaterial heritage of Chinese culture to building an inherent way of life;
- Calligraphy workshop “Practice of Chinese calligraphy: the path of development,” led by Chinese calligrapher Kong Lingmin;
- Traditional Chinese painting workshop “Chinese painting: main principles,” led by Chinese painter Wang Xiuling;
- Tasting of Chinese tea “The path of Chinese tea,” hosted by Yulia Malysheva;
- Introduction to Tai Chi Chuan martial art (literally “the supreme ultimate boxing”) as a practice for healthy lifestyle (trainer Alexey Evteev);
- Workshop “Beijing opera mask making” by Anna Shikhverdieva;
- “I love you China” event
The trip into the culture of the Celestial Empire sparked a huge interest to discover the nuances of Chinese mind set. The event had rolled on in one go, following Confucius’ words “learn as if you constantly experience the lack of knowledge, and as if you are constantly afraid of losing it.”
For the largest part ill handwriting in the world is caused by hurry.
