On June 21, the Confucius Institute in Brittany held a Chinese tea art and calligraphy experience in La Paillette cinema. This event was intended to celebrate the successful exhibition given by local, visual artist Ms. Christine Barbedet.
In February, Ms. Christine Barbedet released a Chinese arts and crafts exhibition in La Paillette, which won great success. The Confucius Institute held this event to say farewell to her. At four in the afternoon, a performance was staged in the different halls of the cinema. Zhou Guihua, professional Chinese tea art teacher, introduced the types of tea, drinking methods, and etiquettes. All audiences were immersed in the charming atmosphere.
Excellent volunteer Shen Chenshuo demonstrated calligraphy at the show. He selected one part from the «three character classic» which suited the theme, «etiquette». Meanwhile, intern Qin Yao and volunteer Chai Shaokang played the ocarina and cucurbit flute. After finishing the work, audiences, performers, and Chinese director engaged in a heated discussion on the transformation of Chinese characters, schools of calligraphy, the content of the «three character classic», the expressive way of Chinese language, and much more.
As the show concluded, Shen Chenshuo sent the calligraphy to Bernard Queruau, director of the cinema, who in turn thanked to the Confucius Institute in his hope to further cooperate in publicizing Chinese culture.
