Introduction to the art of calligraphy
Getting to know the art of calligraphy.
Basic instruments and materials for calligraphy.
Posture, hand and body positioning.
Basic writing
Straight vertical and horizontal lines
Linear ornaments
Capital and lowercase letters.
Italic cursive script
Slanted letters.
Cursive writing.
Decorative initials.
The notions of flourishes, monograms, and calligraphic spirals.
The Old Russian script
The history of the creation of the Cyrillic alphabet
The Old Russian script
Handwritten letters and Russian ornaments in Russian writing.
Uncial script, ornamental script, ornate cursive writing.
English cursive script
Strict style writing with pointed pen.
Initials.
Calligraphic decorated initials with monograms.
Homework will be assigned.
The course is for children from 7 to 12 years old.
Number of students in one class: 10-12.
Duration: 6 months.
The academic programme consists of 24 lessons (48 academic hours).
Frequency: 1 lesson per week (two academic hours with a break).
Lessons are held on Saturdays, starting at 5.00 pm.
Venue: The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy
At the first lesson students will receive the Young Calligrapher’s Kit.
To enter the course the child and their parent are required to attend an interview with the course teacher.
