August 28. Alexey Shaburov meets with Ms Gong Jiajia, cultural attache at the Chinese Embassy in Russia and director of the China Cultural Center in Moscow

Alexey Shaburov met with Ms Gong Jiajia, cultural attache at the Chinese Embassy in Russia and director of Moscow’s China Cultural Center.

The meeting occured on August 28 at the main building of the Chinese Embassy in Russia and began with a brief introduction of the upcoming 2019 expo “The Great Chinese Calligraphy and Painting: One Belt - One Road”. Next year will mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-Russian diplomatic relations.

As they talked, Alexey Shaburov shared his impressions and observations from his recent trip to China and stressed yet again the importance of calligraphy for members of the civil service of China. Ms Gong said that calligraphy invokes a feeling of inner peace and balance, important for people occupying such high-responsibility positions.

They went on to discuss media coverage of the upcoming event by the Embassy and the China Cultural Center. The parties reached an agreement on formalizing in the ordinary course of business the cooperation between the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy and the China Cultural Center.

At the end of his visit, Mr Shaburov took the opportunity to extend a formal invitation to the representatives of the Center to attend the 10th anniversary celebration of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy. The celebration event is scheduled for September 7, 2018.
