Association of private museums of Russia released first episode of “Talents of Russia”

On September 7-8 Sokolniki held an exhibition titled “The Private Museums of Russia. Talents of Russia,” which performed on a huge scale. The project author, Director of the Association of private museums of Russia, Alexey Shaburov managed to place more than a hundred private collections under one roof along with their owners, bringing them together from all across the country – from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka. The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation supported the project, and the Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky himself made a speech at its opening ceremony. In total, 30 000 attended the exhibition over the course of three days.

It all started three years ago when Sokolniki began to gear up for the expeditions to locate the most interesting private museum. A painstaking work led to an e-catalogue where each page had to be confirmed personally. In order to do this, several traveller groups embarked on a journey across the vast expanse of Russia.

The first movie episode covers three unique Russian private museums, including the Manufacturer Dumnov’s Museum in Zarechye village, “Moto Kovrov,” a motorcycle museum in Kovrov, and “Emalis” museum in Yaroslavl, each of them being authentic in their own way, and featuring unique exhibits that can only be seen there.
